Description

The size of the US wire and cable market

The US wire and cable market was worth $48.51 billion in 2025. The total revenue for the automotive engine cover market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 2.94% over the forecast period, reaching almost $56.78 billion by 2034.

What makes the US wire and cable market grow and change

Because these areas need more energy, investments in smart grids have gone up in the Asia Pacific, Middle East, and South America. These kinds of changes will make more people want low-voltage cables. The growth of low-voltage cables is also affected by the growth of the power generation and distribution sectors, which get their energy from renewable sources, as well as the demand from both automotive and non-automotive industries. Urbanization and industrialization are the main things that are making the market grow. In densely populated areas, power grids need to be connected to each other, which is why there is a need for submarine and underground cables. North America and Europe, for example, are moving away from using overhead cables and toward using underground cables. The underground cables make sure that electricity gets to where it needs to go and take up less space.

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the growth of the wires and cables market because of some small changes in communication technologies. Some of the most interesting things that have happened around the world include the use of telehealth in the healthcare industry to cut down on in-person visits, universities and colleges moving their classes and courses online because of global closures, and companies working from home and following WFH (Work from Home) policies. As a result, technologies for communication and connectivity have improved during the pandemic. The pandemic has been very good for the telecommunications industry because it has shown how important connectivity is. Even though the economy is bad and there is a pandemic, 5G deployments and connections are still moving forward.

The power cable market is growing a lot because more new power utility infrastructure is being built and more people are using renewable energy around the world. For instance, the power grid infrastructure in more and more developing countries isn't good enough to carry electricity. As a result, these countries' governments are putting a lot of effort into building safe power grid infrastructure. Also, the electrical cable market is growing because smart infrastructures are becoming more common. But the difficulty of planning the installation of power cables and the time it takes for the government to give permission may slow market growth during the forecast period. On the other hand, the wires and cables market has good growth prospects because the demand for power around the world is growing.

Strategies and important changes in the US wire and cable market

The following companies are the biggest players in the global wire and cable market: Furukawa Electric Co., Nexans S.A., and Prysmian Group. Leoni AG, KEI Industries Ltd., and Ltd. The biggest players in the global wire and cable industry have used a number of strategies to grow their businesses, such as launching new products, buying other companies, expanding, making deals, developing new products, coming up with new ideas, branding, working together, investing, signing contracts, and upgrading.

In April 2023, Nexans finished buying Reka Cables. This purchase fits with Nexans's goal of becoming a company that only uses electricity and making a real difference in the fight against climate change. Reka Cables is a Finnish company that makes high-, medium-, and low-voltage cables. It is a subsidiary of Reka Industrial.

In April 2022, Nexans bought Centelsa from Mexico. Centelsa is a high-end cable maker that focuses on utility and construction uses. The acquisition is a big step forward for Nexans in its goal to become an electrification company that focuses on the whole value chain, from generation to transmission, distribution, and use of sustainable energy.

Nexans sent Enel Green Power more than 390 km of low-voltage (LV) and medium-voltage (MV) cables for the 187 MW La Loma solar farm in Colombia in January 2022. The cables connected the project's solar energy conversion systems. The cables were made in Colombia and Peru.

In June 2023, Prysmian Group said it would spend about $128.4 million on its strategic facility in Pikkala, Finland. This investment is in addition to the one it made in 2022. The goal is to increase the production capacity of the 525 kV HVDC submarine cable systems even more so that they can meet the demand for building and upgrading power transmission infrastructure for the energy transition.
