Ink is the vehicle through which the inked image is transferred onto the print medium Latex ink is a water-based ink with the pigments encapsulated within polymers (or resin, a man-made synthetic, not from a rubber tree where the term latex is derived). The carrier fluid penetrates the media and binds to it through evaporation. This process leaves behind the color in a durable coating. Latex prints are durable and can be exposed to sunlight, extreme weather conditions or harsh environments without losing quality, unlike conventional solvent prints that require lamination for durability. As a result, PSPs save time on secondary processes such as lamination and can reduce their overall costs. In addition to saving time, using printing technologies that eliminate the need for lamination can also improve the overall quality of the print. Lamination can sometimes cause issues such as bubbling or peeling, which can detract from the appearance of the final product. By eliminating the need for lamination, PSPs can produce prints that are more consistent and have a higher-quality finish.
