The Transport for New South Wales (TNSW) along with Roads and Maritime(RMS) is planning to undertake the highway upgrade project in New South Wales, Australia.
The project involves the construction of a 15km four-lane motorway with a new Hunter River crossing. It will extend M1 Pacific Motorway from south of Beresfield to the Pacific Highway at Raymond Terrace.
The project includes the construction of a 2.6km bridge over Woodlands Close, the Main Northern Railway, New England Highway and Hunter Riversideways; interchanges at Black Hill, Tarro, Tomago, and Raymond Terrace; pavements, medians and other related infrastructure, and the installation of street lights and sign boards.
Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) undertook the investigations to upgrade the Pacific Highway to provide the missing link between the M1 Pacific Motorway south of John Renshaw Drive and the Raymond Terrace bypass.
Aecom has been appointed to provide concept design service.
In June 2013, NSW Government allocated US$1.3 million funding, which will be used for land acquisition and property adjustment work.
In December 2014, Jacobs Australia was appointed to review the concept design and environmental assessment.
In March 2015, NSW Government committed to provide funding of US$155 million.
RMS expects to display a refined concept design for community comment in late 2015.
In October 2015, public consultation on the revised concept design was invited.
On November 27, 2015, NSW Government concluded the public consultation process.
In June 2016, NSW government assisted project with US$5 million for the planning activities.
Planning activities are underway.
