Sime Darby Plantation Sdn Bhd (SimeDarby) and Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) named a joint venture Sime Darby Offshore Engineering Sdn Bhd (SDOE) is planning to construct the bio-gas power plants development project in Malaysia.
The project involves the construction of bio-gas power plants. It includes the construction of a cooling tower, a substation, ash conveyors and dolomite bin and storage tanks and the installation of steam turbo generator, canvas belt conveyors, feed table, handling machines, stone and metal separator.
The company has identified eight locations in Penang and Selangor at the Sime Darby Plantation's palm oil mills as the potential sites for the biogas power plant construction.
In June 2013, SimeDarby and TNB signed a shareholders’ agreement to form a joint venture to develop the project, with SimeDarby holding 51% and TNB 49% share.
