In July 2016, Silliman submitted a foundation permit application to Chicago City Council.
In the third quarter of 2016, Studio Gang Architects replaced the white and lime green coloration and irregular patterns of the original design with more uniform and gray.
On October 19, 2016, project secured construction permits.
