Shanghai Metro Corporation (SMC) is undertaking the construction of Shanghai Metro Line Expansion project in Shanghai, China.

The project involves the expansion of existing metro rail systems on five routes. It includes the construction of tracks, stations, parking spaces and other related infrastructure, and the installation of electrical equipment, lighting system and safety systems.

Metro Line 11 will be extended from its Luoshan Road to Disneyland, a 9.15km stretch costing US$692 million.

Metro Line 8 will go beyond its Shanghai Aerospace Museum stop to Huizhen Road with a 6.6km extension costing US$355 million.

Metro Line 10 will be a 10km new route from New Jiangwan City to Gangchen Road at a cost of US$941 million.

Metro Line 2 will be extended 2km eastward, from Xujingdong to Panlong Road, with an investment of US$214 million.

Metro Line 3 and Line 4, which currently share part of their route, will go their separate ways in a rerouting project which will involve a 2.6km of track and cost US$458 million.

The Shanghai Municipal and District government will contribute US$1,125 million in the project and the remaining will be financed by banks.

In February 2014, China Railway Erju Corporation Ching Engineering Company, LTD has been appointed as the main contractor for Line 11.

In December 2015, Shanghai Shentong Metro Group announced a tender for the provision of 10KV step-down station preventive pilot projects.

In March 2014, construction commenced.

In February 2017, Alstom has been appointed as supply contractor for Line 2.

Construction activities are underway.
