The Simon Fraser University (SFU) is planning to undertake the Surrey Simon Fraser University Expansion project in British Columbia, Canada.
The project involves the expansion of the existing university campus.
The project will be developed in four phases to accommodate 2,363 students.
The first phase involves the construction of a five-story, 15,000m2 Energy Systems Engineering campus comprised teaching labs, equipment rooms, research labs and academic and staff support spaces.
The second phase involves the construction of Science, Health and Technology campus comprised classrooms, research and teaching laboratories, academic and support spaces, and a data center.
The third phase involves the construction of Business campus comprised classrooms, research and teaching laboratories, and academic and staff support spaces; Fourth phase includes the construction of graduate campus comprised classrooms, research and teaching laboratories, and academic offices.
The project also includes the construction of library, cafeteria, parking space, installation of safety systems, and the construction of other related facilities.
The project is expected to fund by Ministry of Advanced Education (AVED).
Surrey City Development Corporation was appointed as developer for a 78-unit (234 beds) student residence tower with a lecture theater and health related space.
Bing Thom Architects has been appointed as the architect for the project.
The government will provide US$67 million funds for the first phase of total US$94 million for the development of the project.
Planning activities along with site preparatory works of the first phase are underway.
Construction of the first phase is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2018.
The project involves the expansion of the existing university campus to accommodate about 5,000 students from the present 2,500 in British Columbia, Canada.
The US$355 million project includes the following:

4. Construction of meeting rooms
5. Construction of an auditorium
6. Construction of a library
