The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) is planning to undertake the construction of a King of Prussia Rail Line project in Pennsylvania, the US.
The project involves the extension of the 6.4km to 8km Norristown High-Speed Rail Line (NHSL) into the King of Prussia area.
The project includes the addition of three to four stops to the Norristown line, construction of stations, platforms, parking facility, bridges, an administrative facility and other related facilities, the installation of signaling systems, safety systems and electrical feeder system, and the laying of railway tracks.
The project will be funded through a combination of federal, state and other government jurisdictions.
SEPTA and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) are in the process of evaluating alternatives to provide a Locally Preferred Alternative (LPA) by conducting a three-tier screening process.
Once the LPA is selected, SEPTA will conduct a Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) which would take a year. Following approval of the FEIS by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), engineering design commences and lasts for three years and finally, construction would commence which takes three to four years for completion, subject to the availability of funding.
From January 29, 2017 to January 31, 2017, SEPTA held public meetings to evaluate various alternative alignments.
