Swansea City Centre Partnership (SCCP), a partnership between City and County of Swansea (CCoW) and Welsh Assembly Government, is planning to undertake the construction of a mixed-use community in Swansea, Wales, the UK.
The project involves the construction of a 120,773.9m2 mixed-use complex. It includes the construction of residential units, retail facilities, 9,290m2 of office space, 13-story hotel, a 3,500-seat Arena, conference centre, a public square, a multiplex, leisure facilities, beachfront restaurant quarter, aquarium, parking and related facilities, pedestrian link bridge over Oystermouth Road and the demolition of existing buildings on the Kingsway.
The site north of Oystermouth Road, formerly the St David’s shopping center, will house new shops, restaurants, cafes, landscaped public areas, a boutique cinema and additional car parking.
Rivington Land, Acme and Trebor Developments have been appointed as Associate developers.
On October 10, 2014, Design Commission for Wales in partnership with CCoW held a conference reviewing the possible plans for the development.
The project secured US$7.6 million from the Welsh Government to help get the Street David's site ready for redevelopment.
On January 21, 2015, CCoW approved the preliminary plans for the project.
In March 2017, SCCP submitted an outline planning application to Swansea Council.
In June 2017, SCCP secured outline planning approvals from the council.
Construction work slated to commence in the third quarter of 2018, with the expected completion of the hotel in 2020, and the entire project in 2022.
