Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) is undertaking the upgrade of the Alfords Point Road in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
The project involves the upgrade of a 2.1km road from Alfords Point Bridge to Brushwood Drive. It includes the construction of intersections, a new truck inspection area underneath Old Illawarra Road Bridge, a breakdown bay, culverts, service roads and related infrastructure, and the installation of signalling and safety systems.
SMEC has been appointed as traffic consultant.
In February 2013, RMS appointed GHD Pty Ltd to review the environmental factors of the project.
GHD submitted the environmental assessment report in June 2013.
On September 28, 2015, RMS issued tenders to upgrade the Alfords Point Road with October 26, 2015, as the submission date.
On March 7, 2016, Nace Civil Engineering Pty Ltd was appointed as contractor for the project.
On April 27, 2016, Construction activities were commenced.
In August 2017, construction activities are underway and scheduled for completion in December 2017.
