Summary
PetroVietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (PV Gas), a subsidiary of PetroVietnam, is planning to undertake a liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving terminal at Son My in Binh Thuan, Vietnam.
The project involves the construction of a LNG receiving terminal with a capacity of 9.6million cubic meters per annum (m3). It will be developed in three phases.
The first phase will include the construction of a LNG receiving terminal with capacity of 1.8MCMPA and can be doubled to 3.6MCMPA, the second phase will include the construction of a terminal with a capacity of 2.4MCMPA and the third phase will include the construction of a terminal with a capacity of 3.6MCMPA.
The project will also include the construction of processing units, LPG recovery facilities, condensate recovery facilities, storage facilities and related infrastructure, the installation of machinery and the laying of pipelines.
In 2011, Tractebel Engineering (TE) in association with Royal Haskoning (RH) appointed as feasibility study consultants. However, study completed by TE and RH in 2012.
In June 2014, PV Gas and Shell signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly develop the project.
In December 2015, PV Gas is in the process of preparing investment and implementation plan for the project.
Planning activities are underway and entire development is expected to complete in 2030
