National Water Supply & Drainage Board (NWSDB) is planning to undertake the construction of Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) Desalination Plant at Thalaiyadi, Jaffna District, Sri Lanka.
The project involves the construction of Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) Desalination Plant with the capacity of 24,000m3/day. It includes the construction of water intakes, a pump house and the installation of safety and security systems.
The project received funding from African Development bank (ADB).
International Finance Corporation (IFC) has been appointed as the transaction advisory for the project and on July 21, 2016 the project received budget approval of US$0.04 million.
On December 7, 2016, tender was issued for the contractor on Design, Build and Operate (DBO) basis with the bids submission deadline of May 2, 2017.
On February 8, 2017, the deadline for submission of bids where extended to July 17, 2017.
