Iran's state-owned utility, National Iranian Gas Export Co (NIGEC) is planning to undertake the development of a gas pipeline from South Pars to Kuwait through the Persian Gulf.
The project involves the construction of a 570km gas pipeline with a capacity of 8.5 million m3 per day. It will include the construction of compressor stations, initial injection station, block valve station, regulator station, and installation of field devices that will support remote operation.
In 2010, the Iran and Kuwait Governments held talks on construction of the pipeline and signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that 8.5MCMPD of gas would be supplied to Kuwait.
NIGEC is currently negotiating with Persian Gulf littoral states over exports of natural gas.
