The Ministry of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure, Serbia (MoCTI) is planning to build a motorway in Serbia.
The project involves the construction of a 77km motorway from Niš to Merdar E80/R7 section. It will be developed in two sections.
The first section includes the construction of a 40km motorway from Niš to Plocnik.
The second section includes the construction of a 37km from Plocnik to Merdare.
The project includes the construction of bridges, culverts, service roads, intersections and related infrastructure, and the installation of signaling systems.
On March 1, 2017, MoCTI held a public consultation on the strategic impact assessment report until March 30, 2017.
Western Balkans Investment Framework will provide a US$5 million grant and the European Investment Bank will provide US$160 million loan for the project.
As of July 2017, the project feasibility studies and preliminary design activities are underway.
Subject to approval, construction is expected to commence in 2018.
