Summary

The Ministry of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina (MoCT) and the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Serbia (MoCTI) plans to build a fast road between Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BH) and Belgrade in Serbia.

The project involves the construction of approximately a 100km fast road between Sarajevo and Belgrade.

It includes the construction of by-lanes, pedestrian ways, walkways, pavements and and the installation of signaling and safety systems.

IPSA Institute and Eptisa SEE have been appointed as the study consultants for the project. The companies have undertaken a detailed study and proposed five variants of routes for the construction of a road between Sarajevo and Belgrade.

The most favorable route is over Praca, which will cost US$1,056 million. The length of the route is 113.4km and it will go from Praca through the canyon of Hrenovica and then through the bank of the river Drina and across Ustipraca to Vardiste in Visegrad.

As of July 2017, MoCT and MoCTI are in the process of finalizing the better route for the project development.

In January 2018, Turkish Government expressed interest to finance the project and currently, BH and Serbia Governments are in discussions with Turkish Government and the favorable route is yet to be finalized.
