The Metrô São Paulo is undertaking the construction of the monorail line 17 Gold in São Paulo City, São Paulo, Brazil.
The project involves the construction of a 17.7km monorail link. The project will include the construction of 18 stations, pedestrian ways and construction of parking area. It also includes the installation of Signaling system; Control Systems, Central Door System Platforms, trays and optical fiber networks.
The project will be developed in three sections: Section one of the project involves the construction of a rail link which will connect Congonhas, a station in Morumbi with Line 9, Esmeralda da CPTM. The Second section of the project will connect São Paulo-Morumbi, with Line 4-Amarela and the third section of the project will connect sections one and two i.e., the Brooklyn station Jabaquara, and Line 1-Azul.
The Consortium Monotrilho Integração was awarded the construction contract in June 2011.
The consortium comprises a joint venture between Construtora Andrade Gutierrez S.A, CR Almeida S.A- Engenharia de Obras, SCOMI Engineering BHD and MPE – Montagens e Projetos Especiais S.A.
The project received approval from the local authorities.
In January 2016, Metrô terminated the contracts with the consortium formed by Andrade Gutierrez S.A and suspended the works on the project.
In April 2016, TIDP consortium formed by the companies Tiisa - Infraestrutura e Investimentos S/A e DP Barros Pavimentação e construção LTDA won the construction contract.
In June 2016, SCOMI Engineering BHD signed an agreement to supply the materials related to signaling, communications and power supply for the monorail line 17 Gold and the construction works were resumed.
In November 2016, the contract with the TIDP consortium and the construction works were terminated.
In December 2016, Metrô released a notice for the public consultations on the concession contract of the project.
A judicial process is underway and the government is planning to launch a new concession tender in September 2017 for the development of the project.
