Mainstream Renewable Power Ltd. (Mainstream), and General Electric Energy Financial Services (GEEFS), part of General Electric and Phu Cuong Group (PCG), are planning to build a wind power plant in Soc Trang Province, Vietnam.
The project involves the construction of an 800MW wind power plant. It will be developed in five phases.
The first phase includes the construction of a 200MW wind power plant.
The project includes the construction of substations and related infrastructure, the installation of wind turbines, underline cables, transformers, and generators, and the laying of transmission lines.
In May 2016, GEEFS signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with The Ministry of Industry and Trade Vietnam for the development of the project.
On September 28, 2016, Mainstream and GEEFS signed a term sheet to develop, build and operate the project.
The project is expected to reach financial close for the first phase in 2018.
In June 2017, GE Renewable Energy has been appointed as turbines supply contractor for the project.
On June 5, 2017, project obtained planning approvals from Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The project involves the construction of an 800MW wind power plant in Soc Trang Province, Vietnam.
