The Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO) plans to undertake the expansion of Highway 404 in Ontario, Canada.
The project involves the construction of Highway 404. It includes the widening of the highway from six-to-eight lanes and the addition of a High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane in each direction between Highway 407 ETR and Stouffville Rd for an approximate length of 10.4km.
It includes the construction of 171-vehicle carpool lot at Major Mackenzie Dr., the rehabilitation of two overpasses at Highway 7, the widening of the 16th Ave., overpass, and the replacement of the Rouge River overpasses, interchanges, culverts, retaining walls and pavements and the installation of overhead sign structures.
As of April 2017, MTO has retained MMM Group Ltd, a subsidiary of WSP Global, to undertake the Detail Design and Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) Study for the project.
