The project involves the construction of a ramp designed to enable vehicles to roll on and off the ferry comfortably. The project includes the construction of warehousing and storage, small-scale industries.
Sering Ingegneria has won the contract to undertake a technical and economic feasibility study in September 2010. It will assess opportunities for commercial and infrastructure investment in and around the proposed Shinas port. It is also responsible for design, operation & management studies and construction supervision for development of Shinas port.
In February 2012, study activities were completed on the project.
As of January 2017, project has been put on hold because of funding issues.
Study activities are underway.

The project involves the construction of commercial port at Shinas on the Sultanate's northern Batinah coast, Oman.
The US$400 million project includes the following:
