Summary

Morro Bay Public Works Department (MBPWD) is planning to undertake a water sewage treatment plant in Morro Bay, California, the US.

The project involves the construction of a water sewage treatment plant on 4.8ha area. The project will be executed in two phases.

The first phase is named as Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) and second phase as Recycled Water System (RWS).

The first phase include construction of a 1.2 million gallons per day (MGD) (approximate maximum month flow or MMF) treatment facility at the WRF site.

It includes the construction of pumping stations, diversion chambers, storage facilities, and related infrastructure, the installation of equipment, and the laying of pipelines.

In past three years, MBPWD and Morro Bay City Council analyzed 17 sites which had different possibilities in different localities near Morro Bay for development of the project.

In March 2016, MBPWD and Morro Bay City Council are analyzing two possible sites namely, the Rancho Colina and Righetti for development of the project.

As of May 2016, MBPWD is in process of seeking an appropriate land for the development of the project, and conducting additional community out-reach surveys and reviewing sites, re-examining two previously rejected sites, and identifying if any new sites in the Morro Valley are available.

On June 14, 2016, the City Council selected the South Bay Boulevard site (formerly referred to as Tri-W) for WRF planning and permitting.

The timeline for the first phase (WRF) is scheduled with planning activities from 2013 to 2017; design activities from 2017 to 2019; and construction activities from 2019 to 2021 and the timeline for second phase (RWS) is scheduled to be completed by 2025.
