Manchester Airports Group (MAG) is undertaking the construction of a logistics hub project in Greater Manchester, the UK.
The project involves the construction of a Logistics Hub on 36.9ha of land with a 14.8ha dedicated to landscape and natural habitats. It includes the construction of a 130,064m2 logistics space, distribution unit, parking space, access roads, an administrative building, loading unit, an unloading unit and the construction of related facilities.
In August 2012, MAG has submitted an outline planning application and on November 22, 2012, MAG had secured the planning approvals.
On November 21, 2013, DHL Express (DHL), the leading global logistics company has signed a pre-let agreement with MAG for the development of logistic building with a gross floor area of 3,466m2 and in the second quarter of 2014, DHL has occupied the logistic building.
On December 19, 2014, MAG, along with a developer Stoford has submitted a application on behalf of an international investor to develop a 4.4ha of land with a gross floor area of 24,154m2.
On February 20, 2015, planning permission was secured for the 12,077m2 logistics building named as ALPHA.
ROC consulting has been appointed as civil and structural engineer for the ALPHA project.
Clegg Group has been appointed as contractor for Mountpark Logistics warehouse and Beijing Construction Engineering Group International (BCEGI) and Carillion as construction contractor for ALPHA.
In May 24, 2016, construction works commenced on ALPHA.
In January 2017, construction works on ALPHA was completed. However, later Carillion was bankrupted in January 2018.Scope
