The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is undertaking the construction of an integrated trans-oriented depot in Singapore.
The project involves the construction of an integrated three-story bus and train depot spread across 36ha of land. It will be four-in-one depot - three train and one bus depot on a single site.
The train depot will be built underground, followed by the TEL Depot at-grade, and the EWL Depot elevated on the level above. The three train depots are designed to operate independently. The total stabling capacity of the integrated depot will be around 220 trains.
The bus depot will be an independent three-story structure located next to the train depots. The workshops designated for the first level, while 550 buses parking bays are designated on the second and third levels.
The integrated depot will feature a train yard, loop-lines, maintenance sheds, storage facilities, control buildings, access roads and related facilities, the installation of electrical systems and the laying of railway tracks.
In the third quarter of 2014, a time frame for the completion of new integrated depot was released.
On March 21, 2016, GS Engineering & Construction Corporation was awarded a contract for the construction of East Coast Integrated Depot (ECID) and its reception tunnels.
Samsung C&T Corporation has been awarded a contract for the construction of reception tunnels.
On July 2016, construction works are started.
In October 2016, LTA awarded the civil contract to Lum Chang Building Contractors Pte. Ltd (LCBC) to build a new platform at Tanah Merah Station to connect to this project.
Construction works are underway.
