Lyttelton Port of Christchurch (LPC) is planning to undertake the redevelopment of port in New Zealand.
The project involves the redevelopment of the port facility on 30ha of land. It will be developed in two phases.
The first phase includes the reinstatement of 500 port assets damaged due to earthquake including wharves and facility buildings. This phase of redevelopment is expected to be completed in five years.
The second phase includes the investment of US$410 million, which will be spent over 20 years for future port development.
The project also includes the construction of wharves, administration buildings, a marina clubhouse, restaurants, shops, parking and other infrastructure related facilities.
In June 2014, the Minister for Canterbury Earthquake Recovery (MCER) directed Environment Canterbury (ECan) and LPC to prepare a Lyttelton Port Recovery Plan.
In November 2014, urban design report was prepared by Boffa Miskell.
In April 2015, ECan released its preliminary draft Port Lyttelton Recovery Plan and invited submissions.
In August 2015, ECan presented the final draft Lyttelton Port Recovery Plan to MCER.
Planning activities are underway.
