Jharkhand Integrated Power Ltd (JIPL) is planning to undertake the construction of Tilaiya Ultra Mega Power Plant in Jharkhand, India.
The project involves the construction of coal based power plant with a capacity of 3,960MW on a 494ha of land. The project is being developed in six units with a capacity of 660MW each.
It includes the installation of steam turbines, condenser, boiler, generator, fire fighting system, the construction of raw water treatment facilities, powerhouses, substations, access roads, and the laying of transmission lines.
JIPL will undertake the construction works of the project on Build, Own, and Operate (BOO) basis.
In January 2014, RPOWER secured clearance from Cabinet Committee on Investment, under the clearance RPOWER may not have to provide non-forest land to compensate for the loss of forest land acquired for the project. The project will now be on a par with the other public sector projects and therefore would be exempted from providing compensatory afforestation for the loss of forest land.
On November 3, 2015, Union power ministry and state energy department officials accepted the termination notice served by Reliance Power.
JIPL is awaiting for approvals from the Cabinet to go ahead with the tender process for new developer.
