Hessen Mobil Straßen- und Verkehrsmanagement (HMSV) is undertaking the construction of Riederwald Highway Tunnel project in Frankfurt, Hessen, Germany.
The project involves the construction 1.1km long tunnel, three lanes in each direction, shafts and noise barriers.
The coming up tunnel will be built at a low depth and therefore it will be built in an open excavation. It will be constructed of two rectangular concrete pipes.
The planning permission has been approved in February 2007. The groundbreaking ceremony was commenced in September 2009 and it was delayed due to protest against the implementation of the project.
On February 16, a service and work supervisor contract was awarded to Ingenieurbüro Vössing GmbH, the work includes, architectural, construction, engineering and inspection services.
In January 2014, an environment and geology test contract was awarded to Eurofins Umwelt West GmbH.
In November 2014 Civil engineering contract was awarded to Schüßler-Plan Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH and Grontmij GmbH
Schüßler-Plan Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH and Grontmij GmbH have been appointed as civil engineers.
HMSV is in the process of obtaining a planning approval for the project.
The main construction work is expected to start by the end of 2019 and scheduled for completion by 2027.
The major contribution part for the funds will be carried by the federal government with a total amount of US$235 million.
The project involves the construction of a 1.1km road tunnel, three lanes in each direction between Frankfurt and Erlenbruch in Germany.
The US$444 million project also includes:
1. Construction of a roads
2. Construction of shafts and noise barriers
3. Installation of safety equipments
4. Installation of other electro-mechanical equipment
5. Installation of ventilation equipments
