The Government of Zimbabwe (GoZ) is undertaking the construction of the Mount Hampden Parliament Building project in Zimbabwe.
The project involves the construction of parliament building on 240ha of land to accommodate 400 members. It includes the construction of meeting rooms, conference rooms, parking facility, two legislative chambers, rest rooms, and related facilities, and the installation of safety and security systems.
Feasibility studies on the project completed and once the report is out tenders will be floated. The project was waiting for some land clearance approvals from the government.
Anhui Foreign Economic Construction Group, China has been appointed as a construction contractor, Studio Arts Inc. as a design consultant and Leengate Civil Engineering Contractors as the civil engineer for the project.
On August 5, 2016, the Government of China (GoC) agreed to provide US$46 million for the construction of the project.
In April 2017, design works completed and finalized.
Construction works on the road and soil testing on the site are underway. The main construction works expected to commence in August 2017.
