The Government of Victoria (GoV) is undertaking the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Center Expansion project in Victoria, Australia.
The project involves the development of new exhibition on a 20,000m2 area. The project will include the construction of 9,000m2 of new exhibition halls, a 317 rooms and 14 apartments hotel, banquet rooms with capacity up to 450 people, a multi-purpose space for 1,100 people, meeting rooms, boutique retail shops, 1,150 space multi-story car park, a concourse and pedestrian bridge linking the precinct and the installation of solar panels and security alarms.
The additional space on a 12,000m2 area will be integrated with both the existing 30,000m2 Melbourne Exhibition Center and the Melbourne Convention Center which opened in 2009.
Woods Bagot and NH Architecture were appointed as architects.
On May 6, 2015, the project received approval and a funding of US$166 million from the Victoria State Government.
As of February 2016, potential builders are shortlisted for the project.
As of May 2016, GoV has finalized negotiations with the Plenary Group to deliver an expanded MCEC.

In the first quarter of 2016, construction work commenced for the Exhibition Center.
In October 2016, Action Hotels PLC signed a 92 years lease for the development of the 317-room hotel with the commencement of construction works in the first quarter of 2017.
