First Point Mineral Corp. (FPX Nickel) is developing a nickel mine in Fort St. James, British Columbia, Canada.
The project involves the development of a nickel mine with a production capacity of 41.61MTPA on 24,500ha of land. It includes the construction, development and operation of surface open pit nickel mine and related infrastructure facilities.
The project also includes the construction of a nickel processing plant with a capacity of 114,000 tons per day (TPD), a 7km section of new road joining the Leo Creek and Leo-Middle Connector FSR, 9.6km of haul roads, a new bridge in the vicinity of Middle River, a 230KV 140km transmission line, a cold storage warehouse, fueling facilities, waste management building, explosives storage area, an accommodations camp to house 275 personnel, administration buildings, and related facilities, and the installation of machinery, safety and security systems.
Agat Laboratories Ltd., Emsl Analytical, Inc. and Activation Laboratories Ltd. has been appointed as Study Consultants; Allnorth Consultants Ltd as an Environmental Consultant; Smee & Associates Consulting Limited as a Geotechnical Consultant; Terra Remote Sensing Inc. as a Surveyor; Tetra Tech, Inc. and Caracal Creek International Consulting (Pty) Ltd as Technical Consultants.
On February 27, 2013, a technical report was submitted by Caracal Creek.
On March 22, 2013, a preliminary economic assessment report was submitted by Tetra Tech.
On September 9, 2013, FPX Nickel has preceded the project to Prefeasibility Study phase.
On November 19, 2015, FPX Nickel has completed the transaction with affiliates of CLF to purchase Cliffs' 60% ownership of the Decar nickel project.
