Entreprise Portuaire de Bejaia (EPB) is undertaking the expansion of the Bejaia Port in Algeria.
The project will be developed in three phases.
The first phase includes the construction of a 200m long and 12m deep quay, a median on a 20,000m2 area, access roads and parking facilities, and the installation of related equipment.
The second phase includes the extension of the port by creating additional surfaces and the construction of new docks, offering six new berths for container ships and other vessels with a depth of 16m. It also includes the construction of a median on a 62ha area, protection walls of 11,773m, the dredging of an inner harbour with 16m depth, the expansion of Abdelkader and La Casbah docks with 150m length and 16m depth and related facilities.
The third phase involves the construction of 214m long and 15m deep new berths, three jetties for receiving large oil tankers and a median of a 26ha area, and the installation of equipment.
The study contract has been awarded to Laboratoire des Etudes Maritime (LEM).
The study activities were completed in the second quarter of 2016.
In May 2016, the Entreprise Portuaire de Bejaia (EPB) approved the plans to develop the project in the public-private-partnership model.
EPB is looking for partners for the project’s development.
