On September 19, 2016, Meis Architects was appointed as architect for the project.
Greystone Engineering has been appointed as an engineering consultant and Volterra Partners as study consultant for the project.
On March 31, 2017, LCC has approved a recommendation for the proposed project and it is also in the process to create a new Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) company with EFC to secure the funds from commercial lenders and then sub-lease the stadium for a period of 40 years.
As of August 2017, the discussions are ongoing between EFC and LCC regarding the SPV and the funds. However, UK Athletics is in discussion with Liverpool to use the London Stadium as part of its 2022 Commonwealth Games bid rather than building the new stadium.
