E-DACC Foundation (EDACC) is planning to undertake the construction of Edmonton Galleria project in Alberta, Canada.

The project involves the construction of a commercial complex on 11.6ha of land and is planned to be executed in phases.

The first phase includes the construction of a 60,387m2 University of Alberta campus, a 27,871m2 35-40 story office tower, the art and design department, a 200-seat recital hall and 650-seat community and university theater.

The second phase features a 1,600-seat theater and a 200-seat flexible theater.

It also includes the construction commercial spaces, pedestrian walkways, retail facilities, restaurants, parking and related facilities, the installation of elevators, safety and security systems.

Witten LLP (Witten) has been appointed as legal advisor.

In April 2013, EDACC submitted the project proposal to the Edmonton City Council (ECC).

On July 3, 2013, ECC approved plans for the project.

On February 18, 2014, EDACC initiated the process of securing funds for the project.

In September 2015, EDACC initiated the process of seeking architectural consultant.

Delcon Development Group and Sherrick Management have been selected as developer of second phase.

In March 2016, ECC signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with EDACC for the project. Under the terms of agreement the city will contribute US$58.3 million, including up to US$7.5 million toward cost of designing and constructing a pedway from Churchill LRT station to north of 103A Avenue. The city will provide US$42.5 million for land related to theater development.

Pre-design activities are underway and EDAAC is awaiting funds for executing the project.

Scope

The project involves the construction of a commercial complex on 11.6ha of land in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

The US$850 million project includes the following:

1. Construction of a 60,387m2 University of Alberta campus

2. Construction of a 35-40-story office tower

3. Construction of a 1,600-seat theater

4. Construction of a 650-seat community and university theater

5. Construction of a 200-seat recital theater

6. Construction of a 200-seat flexible theater

7. Construction of 27,871m2 of office spaces

8. Construction of pedestrian walkways

9. Construction of parking facilities

10. Installation of elevators

11. Installation of safety and security systems
