Drexel University City Development, LLC (DUCD), a joint venture between Drexel University and Wexford Science & Technology, LLC, is planning to undertake the construction of a mixed-use development in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the US.
The project involves the construction of a 250,838m2 mixed-use facility on 6ha of land. The project will include the construction of residential units, labs, retail facilities, office space, a public school, a spa, a fitness center, parking and related facilities.
On June 16, 2014, DUCD acquired the project site from the School District of Philadelphia for US$25 million.
SHoP Architects has been appointed as the architects and Jones Lang LaSalle as the consultant for the project.
In October 2014, Drexel received US$5 million grant from the Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania.
In January 2015, Demolition works on the existing structures began.
DUDC is in the process of seeking master developer and schedule to appoint in February 2016.
In March 2016, Drexel appointed Brandywine Realty Trust as developer partner.
On June 22, 2017, the first phase of the project received planning approval.
Ground-breaking is scheduled for the third quarter of 2017.
