In October 2014, the Joint Building Committee (JBC) appointed HMFH Architects, Inc. (HMFH) and Crabtree Rohrbaugh Associates + Architects to conduct a needs assessment, site selection and design services for the project.
Subsequently JBC, along with HMFH and PCC, studied three alternatives for the project.
The first option included the complete renovation of the existing school at a cost of US$84 million, the second involved renovating the existing gymnasium and auditorium, demolishing the main building and constructing a two-story school, and the third option involved the present scope.
On June 23, 2015, JBC revealed the cost estimates for the project.
On July 13, 2015, JBC presented recommendations to completely replace the high school with a three-story educational complex.
On July 15, 2015, JBC presented their recommendation to replace the high school and career technical center to the City Council.
On August 26, 2015, the City Council approved the funding plan.
On February 11, 2016, committee provided preliminary site plans and information to the School Board.
On July 22, 2016, Groundbreaking ceremony held on the project.
Design works on the project are underway and the project is scheduled for completion by the fourth quarter of 2019.
