The City of Cambridge (CoC) is planning to build a multi-purpose sports and recreational complex in Ontario, Canada.
The project involves the construction of a 13,935m2 multi-purpose sports and recreational complex.
It includes the construction of a 1,500-seat arena, 400-500 seats double gymnasium, four rinks, three pools, aquatics facilities, parking and related facilities.
MacLennan Jaunkalns Miller Architects has been appointed as architect and IBI Group as lead consultant.
On April 27, 2011, a final feasibility study report was submitted.
CoC prepared a document in March 2015 which outlines a needs assessment for the project.
On September 24, 2015, CoC held an open house to discuss the project plans.
On November 12, 2015, CoC held a public meeting to present conceptual designs.
In November 2015, the project received approvals for concept design.
In May 2016, City council approved preliminary design concept through the public consultation process.
In August 2016, multiplex site evaluation assessment task force held a meeting.
In September 2016, Cambridge multiplex survey results have been released by task force.
In October 2016, the task force listed of 30 possible sites.
On November 23, 2016, task force held a final meeting, narrows down the possible site to five and ranked them.
CoC is in the process of finalizing location of the project by October 2017. Subject to the approvals, construction works are scheduled to commence in 2020 with completion scheduled by 2022.
