The project involves the construction of a 71,535m2 mixed-use complex. It includes the construction of 39-story tower which includes 3,716m2 of retail space, 59 condominium units, 14,493m2 of office space, 125 apartments, 34 affordable housing units, two restaurants, 557m2 of public open space, 891 parking spaces and related facilities and the installation of elevators and safety systems.
The project also includes another 19-story tower comprising a 153-room hotel.
Carrier Johnson + Cultur has been appointed as architect and Turner Construction Company as contractor. Marriott International, Inc. will operate and manage the hotel under its Ritz-Carlton brand.
In June 2015, Cisterra submitted the project proposals to Civic San Diego (CSD). With environmental review and zoning changes being finalized, Cisterra reported entitlements for The Preserve at Torrey Highlands should be approved within eight to 10 months.
San Diego’s city council approved the market’s first Ritz-Carlton Hotel that is part of a $400-million, mixed-use retail and residential project on October 20, 2016.
The developer is incorporating the historic Clermont Hotel, and its 53 single-room occupancy units, into the project. The project is slated for completion by October 2021.
