Cameron Group LLC (Cameron) is planning to build a mixed-use facility in Mission, Johnson County, Kansas, the US.
The project involves the construction of a mixed-use facility including a 14,864m2 Wal-Mart store, 7,432m2 on two stories, 74 residential units on Wal-Mart store, a seven-story, 150-room Aloft hotel and a 50-room element extended-stay hotel on 6.4ha of land, a three-story 6,968m2 of office facility and 168 apartments in three, four-story buildings. It also includes the construction of retail space, storage units, a lobby, two restaurants, bars, parking and related facilities.
For the development of the hotel, Cameron signed a letter of intent with a management company whose name has been kept withheld.
On March 21, 2014, Cameron held a public exhibition showcasing the plans for the development. On November 5, 2014, Cameron submitted the plans to Mission City Council and Planning Commission.
El Dorado Inc has been appointed as architect for the project and Aloft Hotels as the management contractor for the hotel.
On September 28, 2015, the project secured approval from the planning commissioners and the project was recommended to the City Council.
On January 20, 2016, the project secured preliminary approvals. These plans do not include residential units on top of the Walmart.
On May 25, 2016, Cameron submitted the revised plan for the proposed project.
On August 17, 2016, the project plans were rejected by the Mission City Council as it included residential units on top of the Walmart. Ironically, the plan that the city council approved in January 2016 would still be valid.
On December 21, 2016, Cameron obtained planning approvals for the project.
In June 2017, the Mission City Council held a meeting and decided to hold a public hearing on August 16, 2017, for the project plans.
