CSX Corporation (CSX) is planning to build an intermodal rail terminal in Rocky Mount , North Carolina, the US.
The project involves the construction of an intermodal rail terminal on 182.10ha land. It includes the construction of storage space, warehouses, an administrative space, access roads, loading and unloading facilities, distribution units and related infrastructure, and the installation of equipment and safety and security systems.
CCX will transfer containerized cargo between trains and trucks, processing more than 260,000 containers per year initially.
CSX will spend US$160 million of its own money to cover costs, and expects to receive US$100 million from North Carolina’s Strategic Transportation Investment (STI) program, and the remainder from other development programs.

In February 2017, land acquisition has been completed.
Strategic Development Group and Simpson Engineers and Associates are appointed as a study consultants.
Subject to approval, the project is expected to start in 2018 and to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2020.
