Centrica Energy Plc (CNA), Suncor Energy (SU), Aker BP (ABP) and Faroe Petroleum (FP) are undertaking the Butch Field offshore gas field development in Ula, Norway.
The project involves the development of an offshore gas field with a production capacity of 35,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. It includes the construction of two production wells, a water injection well, a processing plant, storage tanks, subsea structures, and the installation of machinery and equipment.
In October 2015, CNA awarded a front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract to Subsea 7 S.A. who will perform the study jointly with Granherne Ltd.
Norconsult has been appointed as study consultant; Aibel will provide design, engineering and fabrication services, DNV GL as technical consultant; Island Offshore Management AS as drilling contractor; and Baker Hughes as equipment supply contractor.
On November 30, 2016, CNA has submitted the plan for development and operation (PDO) for the project to the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy (MoPE).
On December 15, 2016, CNA has awarded Subsea 7 S.A. a US$150 million contract for engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) of subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines (SURF) including the production pipeline, water injection line, umbilical and related subsea services.
In 2016, Technip FMC was appointed as equipment supply contractor for fabrication services.
Aibel AS startes works on development to deliver several subsea structural elements, including a subsea manifoldin and construction will continue until the second half of 2018.
MoPE has approved a plan for development and operation in May 2017.
Drilling works is expected to commence in the second quarter of 2018 with offshore operations scheduled to commence in 2018 and first oil to be produced in August 2019.
