The Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) is planning to construct a mixed-use community in Chicago, Illinois, the US.

The project involves the redevelopment of Cabrini Green public housing site on 26.3ha of land comprising around 2,340 residential units and will be developed in three phases.

The first phase includes the construction of a mixed-use community in the west of Halsted Street three separate sites, including those that border Larrabee and Clybourn Street comprising 980 housing units and 460 row houses, the second phase includes 450 dwelling units on Halstead and Division and the third phase includes the construction of 450 dwellings near Larrabee Street, Cambridge Avenue and Oak Street.

The project includes the construction of retail units, commercial spaces, access roads, parking and related facilities.

CHA unveiled a draft plan for the site in 2014. Holsten Real Estate Development Corporation has been appointed as a developer and Landon Bone Baker Architects as an architect.

In January 2016, CHA issue request for proposal for the first phase of redevelopment.

On February 21, 2017, CHA selected Hunt Development Group (Hunt) as developer for development of 482 homes of the first phase of the project.

Hunt in collaboration with Imagine Group and Chicago Neighborhood Initiatives will develop the project. The development will include the construction of a 21-story mixed-use tower, 3,056m2 of retail space, 482 residential units comprising 183 units for CHA residents, 82 units at affordable rents and 217 units at market rates.

Subject to approval, construction of the first phase is expected to commence by the fourth quarter of 2018.
