Taiwan Council for Cultural Affairs (CCA) is undertaking the Taipei New Theater project in Banqiao district, Taipei, Taiwan.
The project involves the construction of a 2,000-seat theater over an area of 3.3ha, and 400 to 600 seat experimental theaters.
The project includes the construction of business offices, department stores, dining facilities, hotels, entertainment, recreation, conference, exhibition facilities and other related facilities.
In January 2010, CCA has issued tenders for the selection of a contractor on BOT basis, however, due to economic slowdown tenders were not issued.
The project has not shown much progress in last two year and is still at the consideration stage. Taiwan Council for Cultural Affairs is looking for private investment to move ahead with the development plans.
Ministry of Culture has announced to accelerate the pace of construction of the theater by next year and has also resent the task to National Development Council.
Planning activities are underway.
