The National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) is planning to build an LRT and BRT lines in Medan, North Sumatera, Indonesia.
The project involves the construction of a 36.1km, LRT and BRT lines from Jalan Letjend Jamin Ginting to HM Yamin and Jalan Wiliem Iskandar. It includes the construction of a 22.7km LRT line, a 13.4 BRT line, stations, depots, platforms and ticket counters, the laying of railway tracks, and the installation of security systems.
PT. Marga Graha Penta has been appointed an engineering consultant.
In May 2017, the Medan City Government (Pemko) and the Ministry of Finance (MoF) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (Persero) to undertake final business case (FBC) process and it will take two years to complete.
In June 2017, Pemko commenced a pre-feasibility study to review the financial and economic aspect of the project.
Construction is expected to commence in 2019 and to be complete by 2020.
