The Falkirk Council (FC) along with the British Waterways Scotland (BW) is planning to build a mixed-use complex along the Forth & Clyde canal at Falkirk in the UK.

The project involves the construction of mixed-use facilities on 23ha of land.

The project includes the construction of 525 residential units, a 50-bedroom hotel, leisure, retail and commercial facilities arranged around a public square, the B Listed Union Inn, a new 60-berth marina complex and new approach road to the Falkirk Wheel.

Michael Laird Architects has been appointed as master planner on the project.

The public consultation was held in three stages. The Stage 1 consultation was held in December 2009 and Stage 2 consultation was held in February 2010. The master plan was developed responding to the comments and discussion points raised at Stage 2. The final master plan was presented in Stage 3 consultation event.

In July 2010, BW and FC have submitted planning document to the Falkirk Council and in April 2011, they received the Planning Permission in Principle (PPP) from the Council.

Scope

The project involves the construction of mixed-use facilities on 23ha of land at Forth & Clyde canal in Falkirk, Stirlingshire, the UK.

The US$150 million project includes the following:
