Buffalo State College (BSC) is planning to undertake the construction of a science and mathematics complex in New York, the US.

The project involves the construction of a science and mathematics building spanning 10,304m2 connected and directly adjacent to the existing Science Building in BSC campus. The project is being implemented in three phases.

The first phase includes the construction of a multi-story glass atrium and an advanced imaging suite.

The second phase includes the renovation of north wing of existing building and the demolition of the south wing at a cost of US$31 million.

The third phase will include the construction of new Whitworth Ferguson Planetarium a greenhouse, labs, classrooms and lecture halls at a cost of US$36 million.

The project also includes the construction of classroom lecture facilities, a class laboratory, office facilities, a library, a 100-seat planetarium and an observatory on the roof with 360 degree unobstructed views of the sky for the Astronomy Program.

The architectural renderings for the project were provided by Cannon Design; Lend Lease has been appointed as construction manager; Savarino Construction Services Corporation has been appointed as construction contractor for first phase; and LPCiminelli as main contractor for second phase for the project.

In September 2009, construction work on the project commenced.

In the first quarter of 2013, construction work on the first phase was completed.

Construction works on second phase commenced in fourth quarter of 2013 and completed in fourth quarter of 2015.

Planning activities on third phase are underway and construction activities are expected to complete by 2019.
