The Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) is undertaking the construction of a bridge on Pulau Muara Besar, Brunei.
The project involves the construction of a 2.7km bridge connecting Pulau Muara Besar and Jalan Perusahaan, Serasa. It includes the construction of two-way four-lane 2.925km main road, bridges, separators, connecting roads and related infrastructure, and the installation of signaling and safety systems.
BEDB called for an open tender in 2014.
In March 2015, China Harbor Engineering Company Ltd (CHEC), a subsidiary of China Communications Construction Company Ltd, was appointed as contractor with a contract value of US$204 million and the contract agreement was signed on May 06, 2015 and groundbreaking ceremony held.
On December 18, 2015, CHEC signed contract agreement with Regalblue Production to produce a documentary on the Pulau Muara Besar (PMB) Bridge construction.
In March 2016, government announced a funding of US$38.6 million for the project.
Construction works are underway and are scheduled for completion in 2018.
