Atlas Hotels Inc. (AHI), Lowe Enterprises (Lowe) and Aecom Capital (Aecom) are planning to renovate the Town and Country Resort and Convention Center in San Diego, California, the US.
The project involves the renovation of Town and Country Resort and Convention Center on 16.1ha of land in two phases.
The project includes the construction of a 1,021m2 lobby, three new restaurants on a 929m2 land, four seven-story residential buildings with 840 apartments, 18,580m2 of meeting space, a 464m2 spa, 4.9ha parking garage of open space along the river, and the redevelopment of 954-room hotel over two towers into a 700-room hotel and development of 1.75ha of public park and 1.23ha linear feet of new trails.
The first phase involves interior renovation of 324-room Royal Palm tower and 16,454m2 convention center.
The second phase involves the construction of new lobby, restaurants, spa, water feature and exterior face lift of convention center and hotel towers and renovation of other guest rooms.
Destination Hotels, a subsidiary of Lowe, is managing the resort. HSF Concepts 4, Gensler has been appointed as architects, Reno Contracting, Inc as general contractor.
On June 15, 2017, the planning commission has approved the project plans. However, the city council is yet to provide the approvals.
Subject to the approvals, the first phase construction is expected to commence in the January 2018.
