In other words, the core characteristic of high rate battery is that they can maintain safety, power density, and lifespan performance even when outputting or inputting current at rates far exceeding their rated capacity in a short period of time (such as 5 times, 10 times, or 20 times the C-rate). Global production capacity is estimated to be approximately 60000 mWh in 2025. The upstream raw materials for high-rate batteries mainly include high-rate cathode materials (such as high-conductivity NCM and doped LFP), high-rate anodes (hard carbon, soft carbon, LTO), high-rate electrolytes (high-conductivity ionic systems), separators (high thermal stability, low internal resistance), and copper and aluminum foils. Major raw material suppliers include CATL, Ronbay Technology, BTR, Shanshan Co., Ltd., Putailai, and Tianci Materials, among others. Downstream applications mainly include drones (DJI, DJI Agriculture), power tools (Bosch, Makita, Stanley Black&Decker), light electric vehicles (Ninebot, Niu Electric), robots/AGVs (Hai Robotics, Hikvision Robotics), emergency power supplies, and electric models/FPV.

With the evolution of material systems and electrode manufacturing processes, the mainstream discharge rate in the industry is shifting from 5C–10C to 10C–20C; in the future, drones and power tool platforms will widely adopt medium-to-high discharge rate cells of 15C–25C.
