Description

The global On-Board Oxygen Generating System market size is predicted to grow from US$ 1401 million in 2025 to US$ 2108 million in 2031; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 7.1% from 2025 to 2031.

The impact of the latest U.S. tariff measures and the corresponding policy responses from countries worldwide on market competitiveness, regional economic performance, and supply chain configurations will be comprehensively evaluated in this report.

On-Board Oxygen Generating System is designed for aircraft when the oxygen system cannot meet tactical requirements. The use of this system has reduced the difficulty of ground support work, while also enhancing the aircraft's dispatch intensity and the tactical performance of the entire aircraft.

On-Board Oxygen Generating System mainly consists of a gas source part, an oxygen generation part, an oxygen supply part, a backup oxygen part, a control part, etc. In terms of oxygen production technology, On-Board Oxygen Generating System mainly uses molecular sieve oxygen production method and membrane separation oxygen production method. Among them, the main technology used in the molecular sieve oxygen generation system (OBOGS) is the pressure swing adsorption oxygen generation method (PSA), which is based on the selective adsorption of oxygen and nitrogen components in the air by molecular sieves to separate the air to obtain oxygen. This method overcomes many shortcomings of gas oxygen and liquid oxygen systems and becomes the first choice for aircraft onboard oxygen systems.

Modern fighters need to frequently perform high-G maneuvers (such as dogfights and rapid climbs), and pilots are highly dependent on a continuous and stable oxygen supply. Traditional liquid oxygen or gas cylinder oxygen supply methods have endurance limitations. OBOGS extracts oxygen directly from the air, eliminating the weight of carrying liquid oxygen or high-pressure gas cylinders, and improving the fuel efficiency and bomb load of fighters.

Reducing external oxygen equipment can reduce the risk of fighters being detected by infrared, while avoiding the risk of explosion after the gas cylinder is hit. The popularity of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and long-range bombers requires lightweight and self-sustaining oxygen supply solutions.

Passenger aircraft need a backup oxygen source at high altitudes or in emergencies. OBOGS can dynamically adjust the oxygen concentration and replace chemical oxygen generators (such as some Boeing 787s). Reduce the use of disposable chemical oxygen tanks, reduce airline operating costs, and comply with the trend of green aviation. Provide a more flexible oxygen supply solution for abnormal cabin pressure or medical emergencies.
