The automotive oxygen sensor chip is a key component for detecting the oxygen concentration in the automotive emission system. It helps the engine control unit (ECU) adjust the fuel injection and air-fuel mixture ratio by monitoring the ratio of oxygen to exhaust gas in the exhaust pipe, thereby optimizing combustion efficiency, reducing emissions, and improving engine performance and fuel economy. The chip usually uses special materials and technologies to ensure high-precision operation under high temperatures and harsh environments. There are mainly narrow-range switch type, limiting current type, wide-range type and other types. The switch type oxygen sensor is a chip-type concentration-type oxygen sensor. Its key component is a chip manufactured using the HTCC (high-temperature co-fired ceramic) process. This product can determine whether there is excess oxygen in the exhaust gas after engine combustion. A sensor that converts and purifies exhaust pollutants to a large extent, while saving fuel and avoiding waste. The wide-range oxygen sensor chip operates with lower heating power than conventional oxygen sensor chips. In addition, the wide-range oxygen sensor chip can reach a ready state faster. The wide-range oxygen sensor chip consists of a zirconium dioxide ceramic layer (laminate). The heating element embedded in the laminate is responsible for quickly raising the operating temperature to the necessary temperature of at least 780~800°C. The inner and outer walls of the limiting current oxygen sensor element are equipped with catalytic porous platinum (Pt) electrodes, the inner side of which is connected to the atmosphere with high oxygen concentration. Since the zirconium oxide material of the oxygen sensor can guide the diffusion of oxygen ions at 350°C or higher, a heating unit is specially designed to heat the zirconium oxide electrolyte to enable the sensor to enter the working state as soon as possible. In addition to zirconium oxide, some oxygen sensor chips are made of titanium oxide.
