Worldwide Hard Disk Drive 1Q19 Preliminary Shipment Results
This IDC Market Perspective provides a preliminary unit shipment range for worldwide hard disk drive (HDD) units by HDD drive class and estimated supplier market share for 1Q19."HDD demand from cloud service providers improved somewhat from 4Q18 to 1Q19 and was a bright spot in an otherwise weak quarter overall for HDD market demand and industry revenue," according to John Rydning, research vice president, Worldwide Hard Disk Drives. "Worldwide HDD unit and petabyte shipments and revenue growth may be challenging to achieve in 2Q19, yet is expected to improve in 2H19."
