Description
Worldwide Edge Infrastructure AI Processor and Accelerator Forecast, 2023–2027
This IDC study provides the forecast for edge infrastructure AI processors and accelerators for 2023–2027. This study does not include endpoint processors or accelerators."While AI is a key growth area for the datacenter, the exploding demand will require the distribution of AI compute to the edge infrastructure and endpoints. The use of edge infrastructure for AI will allow for more complex inferencing than is possible on an endpoint or enable aggregation of data from multiple endpoints for AI analysis with lower latency," says Nina Turner, research director in IDC's Enabling Technologies and Semiconductor team. "Implementation of distributed AI will require more complex software and is likely to begin with industry-specific discrete use cases."
